While Fast Reload is beneficial, Marathon Man may be a better choice as this rifle is better suited to the "run-n-gun" style of gameplay. The true "hidden" downside of the URAH-2 barrel is the slight reduction in close-range damage, however the rifle will still remain within its bullet-per-kill bracket depending on the ammo used (7N1 and Type D will still provide a three-hit kill, while Type L-41 JPH and Type L Light Ball a four-hit-kill). However, the one obvious downside it has (a reduction in the rate-of-fire) is actually a benefit for mid-range automatic fire - the slower rate of fire gives the user more time to reset his aim before firing again, which is then in turn aided by increased accuracy, far damage, and reduced recoil. Since the Bauer build, the URAH-2 Barrel becomes a crucial part of the weapon, providing "four upsides for one downside".
The full-auto "panic button" setting should be reserved for when close-quarters building-clearing is necessary, as its hipfire is reasonable but not great and its recoil is above average. One of the best uses of this gun is as a Designated Marksman Rifle. It is strongly advised that you switch to the semi-automatic firing mode when dealing with ranged personnel. Its immense recoil can lead to the user missing shots left, right and center. The AVS is definitely one of the harder weapons to master. Produced in low numbers because of a complex design it is nevertheless a deadly weapon on the battlefield. The AVS-36 is a Soviet combat rifle capable of both semi-auto and full-auto firing mode.
